This part of the paradigm shift is the longest endeavor and is the part that connects everything else together. Franciscan spirituality brings one to see all of the natural world as interconnected and fundamentally good. Franciscans seek to find God in every part of nature, from the birds to the trees to humans. Therefore, deepening our spiritual experience means spending time with and understanding with all of those things in their simple, natural state. When I consider how this spirituality impacts how we learn, I cannot come up with anything more complete than Charlotte Mason’s 20 Principles. When I consider how this spirituality impacts how we eat and nourish our bodies, I reach the conclusion that we should eat in the way that nature designed us to eat (i.e. simple, unprocessed foods). When I consider how this spirituality impacts how we build community… well, that is the biggest challenge for this INTJ!
